Description:  Kentucky school psychologists employed in a district that requires the severe aptitude-achievement discrepancy model to identify learning disabilities are faced with a host of decisions regarding the use of alternative or surrogate measures of intellectual functioning.  The purpose of this presentation is to describe when and how to use the GAI, Gf-Gc, NVI, and other secondary measures of cognitive ability when employing the severe discrepancy tables required by KDE.

Learning objectives: Attendees will understand when and how to choose an alternative index over the commonly-used composite IQ scores when employing the discrepancy tables.  The KDE compels us to provide a rationale for using scores other than the composite IQ, such as the FSIQ, GIA, or FCI.  This workshop is designed to help attendees understand how to make these decisions.

Logistics: Workshop will begin at 9:00 local time and end at 12:00, with a 15-minute break.  3 hours of EILA credit and NASP-approved PD are available.  Training may be cancelled if a minimum of 10 registrants is not met.
