Utilizing Comprehensive Assessments to Inform Intervention Planning for Attention Concerns in School-Aged Youth

Description: 

This training will provide an overview of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Executive Function (EF), specifically its role in the education field. Review will be made of best practices in the assessment of ADHD and EF. Participants will be introduced to continuous performance tests and ratings scales as important diagnostic tools in the assessment of attention related concerns. Specifically, participants will be introduced to the Conners Continuous Performance Test 3rd Edition (CPT 3) and the Conners Continuous Auditory Test of Attention (CATA) as well as the Comprehensive Executive Function Inventory (CEFI). Review will be made of content, administration, scoring, key psychometric properties, and interpretation of these assessments. Case studies examples utilizing the multi-step interpretation process will be presented so that participants feel confident in their interpretation of the assessments.

·       Define ADHD and EF

·       Describe best practices in the assessment of ADHD and EF

·       Knowledge of the CPT 3 and CATA and their essential features

·       Knowledge of the CEFI and its essential features

·       Experience in interpretation of the CPT 3 and CATA through the application of a case-study using the recommended multi-step interpretation process

·       Experience in interpretation of CEFI through the application of a case-study using the recommended multi-step interpretation process
